ISSUES

Education

I believe that every student deserves access to quality education, regardless of their race, gender, socioeconomic status, or geographic location. I will advocate to protect Early Childhood Education, fund Higher Education, and invest in our rural public schools.

I will continue to advocate for teachers to ensure that they receive the training, access to resources, and salaries that they deserve. Additionally, I will work hard to support and protect our state and local teachers’ unions.

I will work tirelessly to ensure that students and teachers in our rural public schools have the same opportunities and resources as those in the most affluent Twin Cities communities. Most importantly, I will work to close Minnesota’s opportunity gap.

Health care

I believe access to quality, affordable health care is a basic human right. I will work to ensure that rural Minnesotans have access to quality hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies. I will also work to ensure that our elderly community members have access to quality in-home health care and residential facilities.

Additionally, I will push to increase funding for the care of our rural veterans, and I will push for greater funding, research, and facilities for mental health care in rural Minnesota.

Community Development

  • Agriculture: Agriculture continues to be one of state’s major resources. Minnesota’s economy is dependent upon our soybean and corn farmers, fuel, and labor workers.
  • Immigration: Rural Minnesota thrives on the contributions of our immigrant population. As a representative of District 22B, I support our state’s efforts to ensure that families are not separated, children are not left without their parents, and that communities are not divided by the citizenship status of an individual. Additionally, I support driver’s licenses for all Minnesotans regardless of citizenship status.
  • Community Engagement: For us to increase voter turnout, we must be willing to put in the work. I am seeking out resources, communities, and the support of many public servants, union workers, farmers, educators, and working families in order to have our community step forward and invest in building a collective rural Minnesota and progressive Minnesota.
